Our Heritage - Northwest Campus

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church formed in 1987 through the Spirit-filled hard work of mission developer Roland Lindemann and a handful of energetic members. The congregation had its ups and downs through the years, but it was always known for its welcoming community of believers.  During the pastorate of Tim Hanson, the congregation developed a strong music program and a focus on ministry to families with young children.  The congregation then welcomed Pastor Pam Marolla, who engaged people in creative outreach to the community.  The church reached a crossroads when it realized that its membership base was not large enough to support a traditional congregational model featuring a full-time parish pastor.  Though small in numbers, members remained committed to sustaining a worshiping community in that place.  Good Shepherd entered into a partnership with neighboring Holy Communion Lutheran Church, receiving pastoral leadership from them.  The two congregations have experimented with several different models of partnership.  In early 2006, both congregations agreed to merge and become one church with two campuses.  Good Shepherd is now known as the Northwestern campus of Holy Communion Lutheran Church.  While still preserving its Sunday morning service, members of both campuses are prayerfully exploring new possibilities in ministry.
